November 20: COVID-19 Update

On November 17, testing revealed a nurse in The Glebe’s healthcare neighborhood is positive for COVID-19. A subsequent test on November 20 confirmed the initial positive result. The nurse who tested positive is currently asymptomatic and resting at home. This nurse last worked on November 12 and had no symptoms at that time.

The most recent positive test came as a result of The Glebe’s ongoing testing program of residents and team members in healthcare. Because of the ongoing positivity rate in Botetourt County (18.8%) and due to the recent positive test result of a team member, The Glebe is required by the Virginia Department of Health to continue the current testing of residents weekly and team members two times per week. Any new positive cases will be reported.

Memory support will continue with weekly testing until there are no new cases of COVID-19 for 14 days. Any changes will be reported as soon as possible.

There are no known cases of COVID-19 among team members or residents in assisted living. This allows The Glebe to reopen for family visitation on November 23. The Glebe team requests that all visitors follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance when visiting: wear a face mask, practice social distancing and limit visitation to two family members per visit.

The Glebe’s team recognizes that this recent positive case and the overall high positivity rate in Botetourt County are concerning and we are doing everything we can to keep the extended Glebe community safe. Please continue to wear masks, keep a social distance of at least six feet and follow proper hand hygiene.
