November 10: COVID-19 Update

In response to the positive tests results in memory support and assisted living last week, The Glebe’s leadership team tested all team members and residents in these areas. As a result, two additional positive asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 were identified.

On November 8, testing results revealed that a resident in the memory support neighborhood tested positive for COVID-19. The resident does not have any signs or symptoms of the virus and continues to be isolated. Additionally, an assisted living team member tested positive on November 9. This team member had been on vacation and had not been at the community at all during the month of November. This team member came to The Glebe for testing and upon receiving a positive test was removed from the schedule and is self-quarantining at home. Contact tracing revealed no potential risks for exposure from this team member.

Because of the positive resident in memory support, those residents and team members will be retested on Monday, November 16, and Monday November 23 to ensure there are no additional asymotomatic cases. Per the Virginia Deparatment of Health (VDH) and the Department of Social Services (DSS), testing will continue until a 14-day period with no positive results is achieved. Residents and team members in assisted living will be retested on Monday, November 16.

The two memory support residents who tested positive last week continue to isolate and remain asymptomatic. The team members who tested positive continue to self-quarantine at home. Out of an abundance of caution, all memory support and assisted living residents continue to isolate at this time. Meals are still being delivered to the resident rooms and visitation to licensed areas remains suspended.

The positivity rate for Botetourt County is still 17.5% at this time. This requires that all healthcare team members be tested twice a week. This baseline testing will take place each Monday and Thursday until the positivity rate decreases in the area. Results from this ongoing baseline testing continue to be all negative.

The Glebe’s team continues to urge residents to wear masks, keep a social distance of at least six feet and using proper hand hygiene. Reach out to The Glebe’s team if you have questions or concerns. Stay tuned to https://glebeprd.wpengine.com/blog/covid19/ for the latest updates.
