January 22: Vaccine Update

The COVID-19 vaccine for independent living residents and team members at The Glebe is almost here! The Glebe’s leadership team has been working closely with CVS Pharmacy representatives in preparation for our upcoming vaccination clinic on January 27.

In October, each LifeSpire community registered to participate in the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care program. This federal government program partners the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with CVS and Walgreens Pharmacies to offer onsite COVID-19 vaccination services for senior living communities. The Glebe’s clinical leadership team will manage the vaccination process and CVS Pharmacy will provide specially trained individuals to administer the vaccines.

To facilitate delivery of almost 500 vaccines on January 27, all previously scheduled activities will be cancelled on that day. Further, the Allegheny Dining Room will be closed, and culinary services will offer evening meal delivery to residents in independent living. Both activities and culinary services will resume regular schedules on January 28.

Independent Living – First Round Vaccination Process

  • Each consenting resident will receive a phone call from a team member asking specific COVID-19 screening questions and medical/health related questions needed for the registration process.
  • Each resident will be issued an appointment card with their appointment time and the process for reporting to the registration site in the main lobby of the Community Center.

Please Note: Due to the logistics of administering 500 vaccines in a single day, The Glebe will not be able to change your scheduled appointment time. We very much appreciate your understanding of this vaccination task’s enormity.

  • Please adhere to your scheduled appointment time.
  • Please bring current and valid insurance card, wear a face mask and practice social distancing while you are completing the registration process.
  • Please have your insurance card out of your wallet and ready upon arrival.
  • A team member will direct you to your assigned vaccination station in the Botetourt Room.
  • Once you are seated at the designated vaccination station, a CVS Pharmacy vaccinator will finalize any further questions and administer the first round of COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Once the vaccine has been administered, please follow the red arrows on the floor into the Allegheny Dining Room which has been designated as the post vaccine waiting room.
  • You will be required to wait 15 minutes in the post vaccine waiting room before you return to your apartment/cottage. A clinical team member will be stationed in the waiting room as a resource. *Light refreshments will be available while you wait.

Healthcare, Chaplick Center, Assisted Living – Second Vaccination Process.

CVS Pharmacy conducted the first vaccination clinic for the licensed areas on January 6.  The second clinic for these areas will also take place on January 27. Members of The Glebe’s clinical leadership team will accompany CVS Pharmacy vaccinators for assistance and ensure residents have a familiar face during the process.

  • Those residents who received their initial vaccine on January 6 will receive their second-round booster vaccine on January 27.
  • Those residents who did not receive a vaccine on January 6 will receive their initial vaccine on January 27.
  • Any independent living residents temporarily residing in a higher level of care will receive their initial vaccine in that higher level of care on January 27.

Team Member Vaccinations

  • All consenting Glebe team members will receive their first round COVID-19 vaccinations on January 27 through a scheduled process.
  • Appointment cards will be issued to each team member by their department director.
  • Team members should report 15 minutes ahead of their appointment time to the parlor across from the Botetourt Room on the second floor of the Community Center.
  • Questions related to the team member vaccination process should go to respective department director.

The Glebe and LifeSpire’s leadership teams are very excited to vaccinate nearly 500 individuals on January 27 to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The Glebe’s third and final vaccine clinic has been confirmed for February 17. More information will be provided prior to the February 17 vaccination clinic to ensure everyone who needs their second vaccine booster will be scheduled accordingly.

Even if you did not consent to be vaccinated during either the January 6 or the January 27 clinics, you have the option of consenting during the third Clinic on February 17 to receive the vaccine.
