January 13: COVID-19 Update

The Glebe’s leadership team is pleased to report that during the latest round of testing conducted on January 12, all residents and team members in the licensed areas—assisted living, memory support and healthcare—tested negative for COVID-19. This testing was due to the recent positive cases reported January 8. The second round of twice-weekly state-mandated baseline testing of all team members will be conducted January 14.

Additionally, assisted living residents will be able to welcome visitors with appropriate reservations and precautions. Residents may also resume activities in common spaces with appropriate social distancing and a mask worn over the nose and mouth. Another round of testing will be conducted Tuesday, January 19. If all tests are negative again, residents in memory support will be removed from isolation and may begin welcoming visitors. Due to the local positivity rate, visitation to healthcare residents is still suspended at this time. Compassionate care visits are still permitted.

Increased precautions for independent living residents will begin to be relaxed today as planned. However, due to the possible exposure risk for members of the culinary services team, the Allegany Dining Room will not reopen at this time. Delivery services will continue, and the Café is open for its regular hours.

On a separate note, the leadership team learned January 12 that an ancillary environmental services team member tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing has been completed and it was determined that this team member had no contact with any residents or other team members prior to testing postive. The team member has been removed from the schedule and is quarantining at home pending the completion of the Virginia Department of Health’s return-to-work criteria.

Please continue to wear masks covering your nose and mouth, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene. Stay tuned to the COVID-19 Communications Hub for the latest information.
