Unlocking the Future: Meet The Glebe’s Scholarship Award Winners

The LifeSpire of Virginia and the Virginia Baptist Homes (VBH) Foundation leadership teams are pleased to announce the 2023 scholarship recipients. A total of $25,000 was awarded to 25 deserving individuals across all five LifeSpire communities, with four going to team members at The Glebe.

The 2023 LifeSpire scholarship award winners at The Glebe are:

  • Brennan Corell, Dining, pursuing a BS in Human Resources at Liberty University.
  • Ethan McKenzie, Dining, pursuing a certificate program in Auto Mechanics from Virginia Western Community College.
  • Heather Roberts, CNA in Skilled Nursing, pursuing a BS in Nursing at Radford University Carilion
  • Carter Smith, Dining, pursuing a BS in Pharmaceutical Studies at East Tennessee State University.

The Residents’ Council at The Glebe also awards scholarships each year to deserving team members. This year, those award winners are:

  • Residents’ Council Educational Grant – Cody Hatter, grandson of Joyce Horton, Environmental Services, pursuing a BS in Health Services from VCU
  • Residents’ Council Educational Grant – Hatlyn Haggerty, Dietary Aide for Health Care, pursing a BS in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
  • The Glebe Continuing Education Grant – Bryson Spangler, Culinary, undecided, James Madison University

The VBH Foundation’s Employee Education Fund provides awards on an annual basis. The fund relies on the generosity of donors for sustainability. The LifeSpire team is grateful for the kindness of residents, families and colleagues who give to the Foundation to assist team members financially with scholarships and crisis awards.
