Ellen D’Ardenne

Ellen D’Ardenne

Executive Director

Ellen was named executive director of The Glebe in September 2017. Ellen joined The Glebe family in 2005 as the director of dining services. After 25 years of food service management in the hotel, restaurant and senior living industry, Ellen was looking for a new challenge. In 2006, she began a healthcare administration degree program, which led to her becoming a licensed nursing home administrator in 2010. With experience in assisted living administration and skilled nursing management, she further expanded her role in April 2011 by assuming leadership of The Glebe’s health and wellness programs.

Sam Kelderhouse

Sam Kelderhouse

Associate Executive Director

Sam joined the Glebe in October of 2024. Sam was born and raised in the Roanoke Valley, where he graduated from Patrick Henry High School, and then attended Appalachian State University. While at Appalachian State, Sam obtained his bachelors of science in healthcare management, along with his master’s in business administration. While in school at Appalachian state, Sam started exploring a career in senior living and has worked in the field ever since.

Shelli Schinkus

Shelli Schinkus

Director of Marketing and Sales

Shelli Schinkus joined The Glebe in November 2021. With degrees both in Hospitality Management and Nursing, Shelli has combined these skillsets in senior living sales and marketing since 2003. Originally from the Midwest, she has worked in the hospitality industry for Walt Disney World and the Los Angeles Dodgers and then evolving into the senior living industry with both start up and expansion senior living projects in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. Shelli is both a registered nurse and a real estate broker in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Joyce Horton

Joyce Horton

Director of Environmental Services

Joyce Horton joined The Glebe in January 2006. A certified dietary manager, Joyce came to The Glebe with 20-plus years of management experience in various capacities. She was promoted to director of dining services in March 2011. Joyce holds a certified dietary degree from the University of Florida.

Robin Ward

Robin Ward

Resident Services Director

Robin joined The Glebe in early 2014. Originally from Southwest Virginia, she began her career in the hotel industry and has worked in retirement communities in Virginia, Florida and Arizona. Robin holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Governors University, and is a nationally certified activity director through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.

Terri Snyder

Terri Snyder

Business Office Manager

Terri began her position as the business office manager at The Glebe in June 2018. Previously, Terri served more than 14 years as assistant treasurer at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church. Terri is a dedicated professional with experience in accounting, financial management, and data entry. She has 13 years’ experience with banks and credit unions as well. Terri has been successful in partnering with organizational teams to achieve business and financial objectives as well as organizational goals. Terri provides targeted programs to enhance productivity, process improvements, and ensure financial data integrity within The Glebe community.

Stephanie Clower

Stephanie Clower

Director of Health Services

Stephanie Clower joined The Glebe in February 2017 and currently serves as the director of health services. Stephanie received her degree at Dabney Lancaster Community College and has 10 years of managerial experience in the long-term care community. Stephanie started her career in the cardiac intensive care unit and has worked in various capacities of nursing, including medical ICU, emergency/trauma and medical/surgical. Stephanie’s passion is working with senior adults to improve and enhance their quality of life through excellence in care.

Rafael DeLeon

Rafael DeLeon

Director of Facilities

Rafael joined The Glebe in March of 2019. Rafael received his bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey in 1995. He holds his Masters Electrical License in New Jersey and in Virginia. Rafael obtained his (VCA) Virginia Contracting Associate license in 2018. He brings 20 plus years of experience in commercial construction. He worked as the Business Coordinator for the City of Roanoke for five years negotiating contracts and managing projects. Rafael brings great energy and motivation to help promote a safe and operational community.

Lee McMillan

Lee McMillan

Director of Culinary Services

Lee joined The Glebe in January 2022 and has a Bachelor Of Science Degree from Mansfield University with a concentration in Consumer Services-Food and Equipment. Lee also continued her education at Roanoke College and Virginia Western focusing on Nutritional Studies receiving her Certified Dietary Manager and Serve Safe Certification.  Lee has more than 35 years in multi-site leadership/management in senior living, residential communities, healthcare, higher education, and catering.

Victor Slate

Victor Slate

Director of Wellness

Victor joined The Glebe in February 2020. A graduate from Fairmont State College with a Masters degree in Education of Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness. Having combined his passion for teaching and wellness as a graduate student teacher of Exercise Science at Fairmont University and later as a college instructor at Virginia Western University teaching various health classes, Victor feels right at home with keeping our Glebe residents active, fit, and healthy in both land and water based fitness and wellness programs.
