September 7: COVID-19 Update

As a community, The Glebe’s team, residents, and loved ones have worked collectively to help manage and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

As a part of that effort, we have hosted several vaccine clinics for residents, team members, and vendors since the beginning of 2021 while continuing to offer and vaccinate both team members and new residents as needed.

The Roanoke region is experiencing an increasing amount of COVID-19 transmission, both in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. Because we are seeing breakthrough cases in our community, we want to remind everyone to please wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the common spaces or visiting the licensed areas. The following is an update of recent positive COVID-19 cases at The Glebe.

Case Update

  • During our weekly mandated testing, Tuesday, August 31 a team member in housekeeping, assigned to Assisted Living, tested positive for COVID-19.  We immediately began contact tracing, testing, and necessary quarantines.
  • On Saturday, September 4, a team member assigned to Health Care, also from housekeeping, who had previously tested negative, tested positive for COVID-19.  That team member was immediately removed from the community and sent home to quarantine.  Possible exposure and contact tracing has been completed.
  • Tuesday, September 7, during our mandated weekly testing 3 additional team members were positive for COVID-19. 1 from culinary services, who was away from the community since August 31st, 1 from facilities services, who returned from a week of -vacation, and (1) from housekeeping. Contact tracing is underway, and anyone at risk has been contacted for testing.

Based on the results of recent testing, we are required to suspend visitation in Health Care immediately for the next 14 days. We will continue to test all Health Care residents and team members weekly for the next 14 days to ensure all test results remain negative. If all test results remain negative, visitation will resume on Tuesday, September 21.

We ask that everyone continue to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene as ongoing measure to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.   Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work together in the mitigation and spread of COVID-19.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. Questions may be submitted via email at [email protected] or 540-591-2104.

Thank you,
