November 5: COVID-19 Update

Due to the positive tests reported Monday in memory support and assisted living, The Glebe’s leadership team tested all team members and residents in these areas. As a result, three additional team members tested positive for COVID-19.

On November 4, testing results revealed that a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in assisted living, a CNA and nurse in memory support tested positive for COVID-19. All three team members are asymptomatic, have been removed from the schedule and are self-quaratining at home. All other tests were negative and no additional tests are pending at this time.

Because of these positive cases, all residents and team members will be retested on Monday, November 9, and Monday November 16 to ensure there are no additional asymotomatic cases. Per the Virginia Deparatment of Health (VDH) and the Department of Social Services (DSS), testing will continue until a 14-day period with no positive results is achieved. The Glebe’s team continues to work directly with VDH and DSS to validate and support the plans in place to reduce risk of further spread of the virus.

The two memory support residents who tested positive last week continue to isolate and remain asymptomatic. The team members who tested positive continue to self-quarantine at home. The memory care resident who tested positive while hospitalized on another matter remains in the hospital pending a negative test result. All memory support and assisted living residents are on isolation at this time and meals will be delivered to the resident rooms. All visitation to licensed areas is still suspended.

The positivity rate for Botetourt County is 17.5% at this time. This requires that all healthcare team members be tested twice a week. This baseline testing will take place each Monday and Thursday until the positivity rate decreases in the area. Results from Monday, November 2 were all negative. Additional results will reported upon return.

The Glebe’s team recognizes that these recent positive cases are concerning and we are doing everything we can to keep the extended Glebe community safe. Please continue to wear masks, keep a social distance of at least six feet and using proper hand hygiene.
