November 25: COVID-19 Visitation Update

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, The Glebe’s leadership team is grateful to report progress with regard to ongoing COVID-19 testing at the community. For the past 14 days, no residents or team members have tested positive in any of the community’s licensed areas including healthcare, assisted living and memory support. As a result, isolation precautions have been lifted for each of these areas. Additionally, no further resident testing is required.

Residents in the assisted living and memory support neighborhoods will be permitted to welcome guests for in-home visits two at a time. While communal dining and activities have also resumed, visitors are not permitted to partake at this time. While there are no known cases of COVID-19 in the healthcare area, the positivity rate for Botetourt County remains in the red-zone (18.2%) which requires visitation for these residents to remain suspended, per a mandate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Members of the resident services team will be on hand on Thanksgiving to ensure that healthcare residents will be able to connect with family members via virtual meetings. If any family members need assistance in connecting virtually with a residents, please contact The Glebe’s team.

While independent living residents may travel away from the community to gather with loved ones for the holiday, The Glebe’s team strongly advises against doing so. These residents are encouraged to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to stay home for Thanksgiving this year and to celebrate only with members of the same household. Residents who choose to leave the community are advised to self-quarantine for 14 days upon return.

Routine twice-weekly baseline testing will continue for healthcare team members until the area’s positivity rate drops below 10%. The Glebe’s clinical team will complete another round of testing on November 26 and November 30.

The Glebe’s team urges residents to wear masks, keep a social distance of at least six feet and use proper hand hygiene. Stay tuned to the COVID-19 Communications Hub for the latest updates.
