November 17: COVID-19 Update

The Glebe’s leadership team is delighted to lift the quarantine for assisted living residents. This news comes as all results were negative during this week’s required testing. Because there have been no new-onset tests in the past 14 days, assisted living residents can resume communal dining and activities. Additionally, no further testing is required.

The tests on residents and team members in the memory support area were also all negative this week. The Glebe’s team will conduct testing again on Monday, November 23. If all of the test results are negative, memory support residents will also be removed from quarantine and will be able to resume activities and communal dining.

The Glebe’s leadership team learned today that a member of the clinical team in the healthcare area tested positive for COVID-19. The team member self-reported exposure on November 14 and subsequently tested positive on November 17. This team member tested negative during the routine testing on November 12 and has not been back to work since that negative result. This team member has been removed from the schedule and is self-quarantining at home.

The Glebe’s clinical team reported this positive test to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Contact tracing revealed that this team member was not in close contact with any residents or fellow team members. In consultation with VDH, the leadership team instituted rapid testing for all healthcare residents; all of the rapid results were negative. A 14-day quarantine is underway to ensure resident safety.

Routine baseline testing continues for healthcare team members due to Botetourt County’s positivity rate of 18.8%. The results received thus far from testing conducted on November 16 are negative. The Glebe’s team will share additional results upon receipt. The Glebe’s clinical team will complete another round of testing on November 19. Due to the positivity rate, visitation to all licensed areas remains suspended.

The Glebe’s team urges residents to wear masks, keep a social distance of at least six feet and use proper hand hygiene. Stay tuned to the COVID-19 Communications Hub for the latest updates.
