June 15: COVID-19 Update

The Glebe’s re-opening planned objective is to improve the quality of life for residents and continue to mitigate the risk of disease transmission. Below is a brief outline of our Phase Two guidance. The various areas of change will be staggered to ensure the community, staff and residents fully understand each aspect of the opening.

Please keep in mind this is an evolving process and may need to be pulled back if a positive case is reported at The Glebe or if the governor changes state guidance due to resurgence in COVID-19.

The Glebe’s Phase 2 Overview

Family Member Visitation-June 15:

Beginning Monday, June 15, family members may visit residents in an independent living apartment/cottage. Please note, all family members will be asked to visit in the apartment or cottage, refraining from visiting in community common spaces. All family members are required to wear a face mask during their visit and limit no more than two family members in the apartment/cottage at one time.

Due to the ongoing requirement from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), family members are not allowed in the licensed areas of health care, assisted living or memory care. Visitation will be updated in the coming weeks.

Resident Face Mask Reminder:

Under the Governor’s Executive Order, any person age ten and older must always wear a mask or face covering while entering, exiting, traveling through and spending time in public settings. All residents and staff will be required to wear a face mask whenever they are in the community common spaces.

Residents Leaving Campus:

The Glebe continues to support the “stay home, stay safe” approach.  In Phase Two, residents may continue to leave The Glebe campus and return without a 14-day self-quarantine. Please use the self-monitoring form to note any change in health status.

Please contact the clinic, 591-2198, or the manager on duty, with any signs and symptoms of illness.

  • Please keep in mind your risk of exposure when you choose to leave The Glebe campus and venture into the greater community/general public places.
  • Please make sure you have your face mask and hand sanitizer whenever you leave your apartment or cottage.
  • The Glebe will continue to keep a list and screen residents as they return to the campus.

Resident Use of Community Common Space:

Residents are moving about the greater community and common space more and more each day. As a reminder: please wear a face mask and carry hand sanitizer whenever possible.

  • Practice ongoing hand hygiene and limit the touch of public surface areas.
  • Please continue to practice social distancing, six feet or more, from a neighbor or staff member.
  • No group gathering.
  • Follow social distancing signage throughout the community.
