January 8: COVID-19 Update

On January 8, The Glebe’s management team learned that three healthcare residents tested positive for COVID-19. The positive cases were identified during the 10-day follow-up testing related to the positive cases reported in late December.

These three positive residents were in an isolation cluster as a result of those previously reported positive tests. This isolation will continue, and specific clinical team members have been designated to care for them at this time. Contact tracing has been completed and no other residents were identified as having close contact with these positive residents. All residents will be retested on Tuesday, January 12.

During the state mandated twice-weekly testing due to Botetourt County’s positivity rate, four additional team members tested positive for COVID-19. These team members have been removed from the schedule and are quarantining at home pending completion of Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return-to-work criteria. Contact tracing has been completed. Anyone who was identified as having close contact with these team members has been tested and is quarantining. All team members will be retested on Monday, January 11, as part of ongoing weekly testing.

Due to recent positive tests and the positivity rate for the surrounding community, the healthcare neighborhood continues isolation and visitation is suspended. Assisted living residents’ isolation will be completed on January 13 and they may begin to have visitors with appropriate reservations. The memory support neighborhood will continue isolation until further notice.

These positive tests were reported to VDH and The Glebe’s team continues to follow all recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus. Please properly wear a mask covering the mouth and nose, keep a social distance of at least six feet both indoors and outdoors and practicing effective hand hygiene.
