January 21: COVID-19 Update

During this week’s state-mandated twice-weekly baseline testing, The Glebe’s team learned that a team member in memory support tested positive for COVID-19. This team member has been removed from the schedule and is quarantining at home until Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return-to-work criteria are met.

As a result of this positive test, residents in the memory support neighborhood will remain in isolation and visitation is still suspended. These restrictions will be lifted after two weeks of all negative test results for residents and team members.

On a separate note, a healthcare resident also tested positive during this week’s baseline testing. This resident is in isolation. The Glebe’s team continues to follow all recommendations from VDH to prevent the spread of the virus.

Visitor restrictions are still in place due to the high positivity rate in Botetourt County. Though the rate remains in the red zone, it has dropped two percentage points since last week indicating a shift in a positive direction. Twice weekly testing will continue until the positivity rate drops below 5%.

The Glebe’s second vaccination clinic in healthcare, assisted living and memory support will be held on January 27. Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, immunity with the vaccine is not achieved until seven to 14 days after the second dose. Please continue to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene.
