December 31: COVID-19 Update

The Glebe’s management team learned that one additional staff member tested positive for COVID-19 during the state-mandated COVID-19 testing conducted on December 30th. The team members are asymptomatic and self-quarantining at home until the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return-to-work criteria are met.

Contact tracing revealed that two of the team members that tested positive on December 28th, had close contact with residents on Health Care.   Due to the nature of contact during nursing care, all Residents on Health Care were placed on quarantine and utilized droplet precautions.  The Health Care Resident baseline testing that occurred today, revealed three positive cases.   All three residents are asymptomatic and will remain on droplet precautions and isolate for 14 days.  No other resident tested positive or has shown any signs or symptoms of the virus.

The positivity rate for Botetourt County is still in the red zone at 19.1%.  As an update, any resident who had close contact with the therapy team member who tested positive a week ago has been tested for a second time.  All test results were negative.   These residents will remain in quarantine and monitored by a member of the clinical team.  Visitation and activities in  healthcare, assisted living, memory care, and independent living  will now be suspended until January 13th.

The Glebe’s leadership team has issued a “Stay Home Stay Safe” request for residents in all areas of the community.   This request urges residents to stay in their respective apartments, cottages, and rooms as much as possible until January 13th.  Please keep in mind the high positivity rate in our area as you make decisions regarding outside appointments, shopping and other reasons for leaving The Glebe’s campus.

Stay tuned to the COVID-19 Communications Hub for the latest updates.
