COVID-19 Community Update

The Glebe would like to extend a heartfelt holiday wish and a Happy New Year to all.  It has been a challenging year; however, we have learned a lot about our strength as a community during these unprecedented times.  We are united, we are strong, and we continue to persevere as we prepare to receive the initial COVID-19 vaccination.  We have worked together over the past 10 months in our effort to mitigate COVID-19 and stay safe and well.  I want to thank each you for that ongoing support and patience.

Over this past week and during our baseline testing today, we have several more individuals that have tested positive for COVID-19.  Due to ongoing testing and resident/family-member gatherings, we have several residents that are now quarantining due to possible exposure. In an effort for The Glebe to rebound and regain “Negative” status within all areas of the community, we will need to implement a “Stay Home Stay Safe” request.  Below are specific details for each area of the community:

Baseline Testing, Droplet Precautions, Visitation

The Glebe will continue to do bi-weekly baseline testing due to the positivity rate in Botetourt County of 21.6%.

Health Care Visitation:  Currently the testing guidance states, “if a facility is within a region that shows a positivity rate higher than 10%, the facility will restrict visitation to comfort care visits only.”  Also, due to staff testing Health Care residents will be quarantined and placed on droplet precautions for 14 days and until all test results are negative.

Assisted Living and Memory Care:  Due to staff test results and resident exposure risk, Assisted Living and Memory Care will be placed on quarantine for no less than 14 days from today. “if a facility is within a region that shows a positivity rate higher than 10%, the facility will restrict visitation to comfort care visits only.   Residents will be asked to stay in their apartment when possible to mitigate further risk of exposure.

Independent Living: Due to the extended number of residents with possible exposure in our Independent Living apartments and cottages we are requesting residents “Stay Home and Stay Safe”.  Therefore, all visitation will be suspended for no less than 14 days from today.

Resident Use of Community Common Spaces

To further mitigate the spread of COVID-19 we are requesting residents limit their movement within the community common spaces.   As a reminder, please wear a face mask and utilize hand sanitizer/hand hygiene whenever possible.

  • Practice ongoing hand hygiene and limit touching of public surface areas.
  • Please continue to practice social distancing, maintain 6’ or more from a neighbor or staff member.
  • Follow social distancing signage throughout the community and socialize safely.
