August 16: COVID-19 Update

As a community, The Glebe’s team, residents, and loved ones have worked collectively and tirelessly over the past 18 months to help manage and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As part of that effort, The Glebe has hosted several vaccine clinics for residents, team members, and vendors since the beginning of 2021.  It is because of those clinics that 98% of residents and 60% of team members and vendors are vaccinated.  Our vaccine percentage directly impacts the number of positive COVID cases in the community.

Sadly, COVID-19 infection rates across our region are on the rise due to a new form of the COVID-19 virus called the Delta variant. Because of increased transmission, both in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, and because we are learning of breakthrough cases in our region, we want to update everyone on recent cases at The Glebe and remind everyone to wear a mask in the common spaces and when visiting licensed areas.

Case Update

  • On Sunday, August 7th a team member working in the Alleghany Dining Room tested positive for COVID-19.  We immediately began contact tracing, testing, and necessary quarantines.
  • On Thursday, August 12th, a team member from another department reported they were symptomatic and tested positive for COVID-19.  That team member had not been in the community for more than 48 hours prior to symptoms and testing positive.  Possible exposure and contact tracing has been completed.
  • Friday, August 13th, a resident called to report they were symptomatic and tested positive for COVID-19.  The resident has been away from community for more than 48 hours prior to symptom onset and testing results.  Contact tracing is underway, and anyone at risk has been contacted for testing.

As a reminder, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued guidance surrounding the use of masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.  We ask that everyone continue to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Screening for Licensed Areas

As a reminder, all residents, visitors, and contractors are required to enter through the healthcare entrance and go through standard screening protocol prior to working or visiting healthcare, assisted living, or memory support areas of The Glebe.

  • Residents may access the healthcare receptionist through the interior hallways.
  • Team members working in healthcare, assisted living, or memory support, may enter through designated team member entrances and report to the healthcare receptionist for screening prior to shift.
  • All other visitors/families/vendors must enter through the healthcare entrance for screening at the healthcare receptionist.
  • Note: everyone is required to wear a mask while visiting in healthcare, assisted living and memory support.

Fully vaccinated definition: Individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

Non-Vaccinated definition-individuals who did not receive the COVID-19 vaccine or have only received (1) dose of a (2) dose series.
