The Glebe Artists Share Their Talent for the Enjoyment and Benefit of Others

"CityScape" by Charlotte YeattsPainting and photography are among the interests shared by numerous residents at The Glebe as well as the other three communities operated by Lifespire of Virginia. Often these works are on display at the communities, and on occasion they are exhibited in local areas. One such exhibition was the annual Art Show sponsored by LeadingAge Virginia, an association of nonprofit senior living communities with members from across Virginia. Artists from 13 communities submitted 250 pieces of artwork for the 2015 exhibit.

We are pleased that Mark Deardorf, artist and resident of The Glebe, was selected as “Best in Show” with his work entitled, “Glebe Snowfall”. This year’s judge, a talented Richmond area artist and art instructor, had the difficult task of selecting a Best in Show winner; first, second, and third place winners in the Painting, Photography, and Mixed Media categories; and 24 Honorable Mentions. In addition to “Best in Show”, three other artists who reside at The Glebe were named for 1st Place and Honorable Mentions: 1st Place – Painting, “Gypsy Woman” by Horst Lonitz and Honorable Mentions: “Still Life” by Dana Belle Kinzie, and “Daddy’s Peonies” by Mary Young.

"CityScape" by Charlotte YeattsCharlotte Yeatts, a retired nurse as well as an artist who resides at The Glebe, recently submitted a painting entitled, “CityScape” in a competition in which the winner’s artwork would be printed as the 2015 Holiday card to be sold for the benefit of a special cause — Ronald McDonald House. This nonprofit organization provides a home away from home for the more than 700 families of injured and sick children annually who live at least 25 miles away from hospitals where their children are receiving care. Charlotte’s winning card, “CityScape”, is now on sale. The back of the card provides information about Charlotte and her wonderful giving spirit! All proceeds from the sales of the cards go to Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia. If you would like to support this cause, click this link:

Congratulations to these talented artists for sharing their work for the enjoyment and benefit of others.
