One day long ago, Louis and Virginia Hiett were traveling down Route 11 when they found themselves in Botetourt County, Virginia astonished at the beauty that surrounded them. They mused, “Wouldn’t it be nice if someday we ended up here?” Their words turned out to be prophetic. When they saw The Glebe, at last something clicked. Louis explains, “It’s clear that The Glebe has kept up with what our generation wants. We’re treated as individuals.” The Hietts play bridge and use the exercise facilities, and they volunteer at the Bradley Free Clinic. With family as the cornerstone of their lives, The Glebe has become an ideal base camp. They have a daughter in Abingdon, VA and a grandson on the football team at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) . After returning home from a trip over the holidays, they realized how strongly they felt about The Glebe. “We walked in, put our things down and realized we were home.” And it only took fifty years.
