Presented by Peter Wallenstein

Dr. Peter Wallenstein, an award winning professor of history at Virginia Tech and author of Cradle of America: A History of Virginia, presents Creating a More Modern Virginia — Looking Back Across Our Own Lifetimes. Many individuals have vivid memories of the Great Depression and New Deal; World War Two or Korea; the Civil Rights Movement; and other big events from over the years. Our private lives and those big public events have intersected in many ways, and we can reflect on how that has been true for Virginians across the many years that we ourselves can remember. What were our choices? What did we study? What jobs were available? What did we purchase with our earliest paychecks? How did we keep in touch with family and friends?
