Gerald Carter has joined the staff of The Glebe serving as Chaplain. At The Glebe, Mr. Carter provides guidance and support to the Spiritual Life Committee in addition to ministering to residents, residents’ families, and staff members in keeping with The Glebe’s policies and procedures and respecting the diversity of the community.
Mr. Carter is a commissioned lay pastor and comes to The Glebe a year after retiring from the position of Minister of Congregational Care at Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. During this service, he was responsible for visitation and served as liaison to Service and Outreach, Congregational Care and Congregational Development Committees. This prior experience will be an asset as he serves The Glebe family.
Prior to becoming the Minister of Congregational Care, he served his home churches in various capacities including Superintendent of Sunday Schools, Sunday School teacher, Christian Education Chair, Disciple Bible study leader, leader of the Men’s Breakfast, and as a member of countless committees. He is a co-founder of Old Southwest Congregations in Action and has served as Moderator of Presbytery of the Peaks. He also has an extensive background in customer service from years of experience in the hotel industry and has shared his many talents with various non-profit organizations across Southwest Virginia.
